Energy Centre Denmark as a participant in the 'Organisation for the Promotion of Energy Technologies' (OPET-Network)

The project activities have been implemented within the framework of the European OPET Network (Organisations for the Promotion of Energy Technologies), supported by EU's General-Directorate XIII and XVII.

Project description

The scope and aim of the proposal is to promote and disseminate new and clean energy technologies in Denmark covering all sectors (Rational Use of Energy, Renewable Energy Sources and Fossil Fuels) through the national Danish organisation, Energy Centre Denmark (ECD), being a part of the OPET network. The collaboration with other OPET, will on the other hand also serve to promote Danish energy technology in other European member countries. It is the overall aim of Energy Centre Denmark to act in the OPET networks to ensure that activities under the Joule-Thermie programme are continued througt the last period of the Fourth Famework Programme (1997-1998). The main elements of the work programme, will thus be carried out on a network basis, supplementing and connecting with the work performed by other OPETs and the Innovation Relay Centres

Results

The OPET Network comprises 41 organisations and 13 FEMOPETs (fellow-members from CEEC). The activities are undertaken as part of a total project period of three years. The aim of Energy Centre Denmark's OPET activities has been to inform potential Danish applicants about EU's Programmes within the energy field, first of all JOULE-THERMIE. Also it has aimed at helping to assist with the internationalisation of the Danish energy sector focusing on bio- and solar energy, district heating and cooling as well as the building sector. Some main activities have been: Sending out ECDs Newsletter with information on EU's Programmes; Expanding and updating ECD's Homepage with information on EU Programmes and information on technologies and markets on a European scale (the Homepage has approx. 300 visitors per month); Information dissemination of Danish know-how for a European target group via ECD's Homepage, giving presentations on European events, distribution of publications etc. for the OPET network etc.; Undertaking case studies drawing up results and experience from EU supported demonstration projects; Carrying out targeted action in order to help internationalise Danish SMEs; Supporting activities to encourage Danish SMEs to carry out environmental measures - first of all in form of energy management - as part of Local Agenda 21 activites. Another part of the project activities have comprised EU's SENSER Project where ECD has made an analysis of R and D activities in Denmark in form of the report 'Country Report for Denmark'
