Evaluation of Embodied Energy and Carbon Dioxide for Building Construction, extension
The purpose of the project is to work embodied energy and carbon dioxide emissions for building construction together with several international collaborators within IEA. The purpose is to gather solid knowledge within the subject, to develop guidelines for how the can be evaluated for buildings and to identify methods for how this can be reduced in the design and construction process.

The purpose of the project is to work with embodied energy and carbon dioxide emissions for building construction together with several international collaborators within IEA. The purpose is to:
- Gather solid knowledge within embodied energy and carbon dioxide emissions for building construction materials
- Develop guidelines for how embodied energy in buildings and carbon dioxide emissions can be evaluated
- Identify methods for how this can be reduced in the design and construction process, both in terms of buildings and building materials.
The project is carried out as a 3 year project with start in July 2012 and ending in July 2015- Denmark will participate as subtask 4, and participate as project participants in all other subtask in the project.
The project is expected to gather knowledge for the Danish building sectors on how to evaluate embodied energy in buildings and emission of greenhouse gasses in relation to production of building materials. This also relates to the new European construction product regulation (CPR), the European standards related to sustainability in construction works (TC 350) and Roadmap to a resource efficient Europe. In initiatives mentioned above life cycle assessment of building materials and buildings gets increased focus – including embodied energy and emissions of greenhouse gasses.
The project is an expansion of another EUDP project, 64012-0133.
