Integrated solution for maintenance and repair of wind turbine blades.

The purpose is to develop and demonstrate a solution, an integrated Crane Basket, solving the challenge to get technicians access to blades on installed turbines – on- as offshore, for safe and effective maintenance, to optimize output and to ensure long lifetime. As such the solution will contribute reducing COE.

Project description

Based on already proven and patented technology, the objective is to develop a unique blade-guided platform which provides service technicians easy access to rotor blades on wind turbines on-site, for regular maintenance and repair. The solution - called a Crane Basket - is characterized by being placed on the wind turbine as an integrated part. The basket is lifted into operation on the blade or tower via crane or other lifting media placed in or round the nacelle. The basket is thus ready for quick and safe use.

The project shall result in developing a prototype to be used for testing with partners on offshore turbines.
