Indoor Climate System in School buildings

The project objective is to design and test new coherent indoor climate and energy management systems in school buildings. The project is based on development of new functional standards and operation strategies, leading to the need for design of new coherent technical infrastructure and management systems – unified in an integrated design model.

Project description

The paradigm of “multifunctional” schools have given rise to a need for more flexible operating strategies, where daily building-operations better supports the school's new tasks and physical requirements. The project aims at developing a “buildable” system architecture for daily operation of school buildings, with more flexible and coherent climate and energy management systems in sight. Focus is on how coherent and communicative operating systems better can support the schools' new physical environment and need for efficient indoor climate and energy management, with great potentials for energy efficiency to follow. The project process is structured on work packages following three rates; Development and design of adapted and coherent operation strategies and intercommunicating facility infrastructure following an integrated design model; Demonstration, testing, commissioning and staff capacity building; Evaluation and regulation. The development process involves two demonstration cases. New knowledge and experiences are continually disseminated in a joint effort from the project partners, involving producers, a contractor, client consultants, the Danish Union of Teachers, Green Building Council Denmark, and demonstration and focus group municipalities. The project's communication efforts will primarily target relevant competence levels of the key market players in the form of a series of target group oriented seminars during the project.
