Secure Power for Grid Control, SPGC
The project will develop fuel cell backup power solutions for use at transformer stations in the electric grid. It will demonstrate the new backup solution in connection with transmission stations and distribution stations with the goal to maintain high reliability, reduce maintenance cost, and allow for even longer backup times through re-fueling during outages. The project will address the technical challenges of handling the transient load of emergency power supply for activation of high-voltage breaks.
This project will be an important element in balancing the fluctuating renewable energy, which has been central strategy for the Danish energy supply. The products developed in the project will build on years of R&D partly financed by EUDP, and lead to a first mover position within this backup power segment with large potential of exporting Danish products and generating employment in Denmark.
