IEA PVT task participation

The purpose of the project is Danish participation in the IEA SHC programme task on PVT systems: ”Application of PVT collectors and new solutions with PVT systems”. (PVT = combination of solar cell and solar thermal collector)

Purpose of this project is through participating in the IEA task to elucidate the application of PVT collectors in systems with various other components and to optimize PVT system design for various applications such as multifamily houses and institutions. Further, the goal is to develop PVT collector test methods and develop simulation models for development of PVT systems.

Project description

A number of research and development activities are taking place within PVT panels (solar cells and solar thermal hybrid collector). PVT panels are part of heating/cooling and electricity systems of buildings. 

Investigations on PVT systems will be carried out within this project. The aim is to fully elucidate the potential of PVT systems and to optimize system design. A simulation model will be developed. 
Experimental investigations on roof mounted PVT panels and vertical façade integrated PVT panels will be carried out to elucidate their performances in real weather conditions. 

Measurements of three full-scale PVT systems installed in buildings at different locations in Denmark will be analyzed related their performance with the purpose of improvements of control strategy and system design.

The experiences will be shared with the international experts and new knowledge from the IEA task experts will be brought home to Denmark, implemented in the ongoing projects and shared with the many companies, which have been involved in development of PVT systems in Denmark.
