Danish Participation in IEA Task 28: Social Acceptance of Wind Power
IEA Wind Task 28” on Social Acceptance of Wind Energy Projects is a working group involving several countries, including the USA, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Japan, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands.
It is an interdisciplinary and international research, knowledge creation and exchange platform with the objective of supporting efforts to understand and ultimately to achieve broad-based social support for wind energy around the globe.Social acceptance of wind power is a complex issue. However, the understanding of this complexity is expected to benefit from international collaboration delivering definable and useful outputs. Outputs should be conceived and executed in a manner that will enhance our knowledge concerning social acceptance while supporting the work of policy-makers, developers, municipalities and other stakeholders in the global wind industry as they seek to define and build new energy infrastructure, at levels consistent with the perceived needs and goals for their respective country. Not least, the knowledge will contribute to the understanding of the community’s needs, roles and participation in wind energy projects. The collaborations through participation in Task 28 will further increase Denmark’s capacity through networking and access to new resources.
