EnergyLab Nordhavn |Platform for development of smart city energy solutions

Develop and establish a live, full-scale energy laboratory in the new Nordhavn area in Copenhagen, for development, testing and demonstration of smart city energy solutions, including smart energy integration, flexible energy data collection and management, decision support tools for planning and operating.

Project description

This one year project develops and establishes a live, full-scale energy laboratory in the new Nordhavn area, designed for developing, testing and demonstration of solutions for smart energy integration, flexible energy data collection and management, and decision support tools for planning and operation.
The work is divided into: establishing EnergyLab Nordhavn as an organizational platform; identification of the end user´s needs for information; description of the energy characteristics and behavior of future buildings; identification and characterization of smart city energy integration options; identification of available, relevant data and objects; development of a suitable data management concept; formulation of a succeeding large-scale data project.
At the end of the project it is expected that: EnergyLab Nordhavn is defined and established as a strong and robust organizational platform with a Steering Committee, identifying and coordinating the succeeding activities; the needs for information by the various types of users (urban planners, energy planers, energy system operators and energy customers) are described; the various options, realistic potential and future perspectives for smart energy integration in urban contexts are qualified and quantifies; available data, providing new knowledge and relevant for smart city energy integration and operation, are identified and characterized; a flexible and future-proof smart city energy data management concept for data collection, data storage and data access, is defined based on open standards; and a succeeding large-scale data project, based on and further developing the EnergyLab Nordhavn platform, is formulated.
