Future Hydraulic Pitch System for Wind Turbines

This project aims to increase reliability and availability significant in compared to current hydraulic electric pitch systems.

Project description

This project aims to increase reliability and availability of hydraulic pitch systems significant compared to current hydraulic and electric systems. This is done through a modular way of thinking in which the entire system is brought out in the rotating hub and distributed in three individual systems – one for each blade.
The goal will be reached by research and development within the field of fluid power and mechanical engineering. This includes dynamic analysis of the entire hydraulic system, development of control algorithms and last but not least; development and demonstration of analysis from beginning to end.
The result from the project will be used to highly improve todays pitch systems, and hence lover the total cost of energy from wind turbines. Based on the results a prototype will be constructed for demonstration purpose.
