Local Heating Concepts for Power Balancing
The overall objective of the project is to evaluate and optimize the synergies between the power system and district heating system focusing on energy (power and heat) balancing services in emerging urban densification and dispersion projects. Danish energy strategies on RE (Renewable Energy) integration and district heating will be promoted through this.
This project will mobilize local resources and technologies in district heating systems for balancing services in the power grid. The project will use a new and more detailed and integrated design approach. The new design approach will increase the balancing service capacity from the district heating system while decreasing the necessary investments. The project will develop and demonstrate the new design method, quantify the economic potential and demonstrate the applicability in laboratory environment.
The main focus of the project is to optimize the synergies between the power system and district heating system in urban areas. The power system will benefit from improved balancing flexibility targeted towards improved integration of renewable and improved security of supply. The district heating system will benefit from increasing green supply and from decreased investments
