EUDP 2021-II Carrying out tasks related to Denmark's membership of the IEA-OES 2022 (as alternate)

Wave energy converters (WEC’s) capture energy from ocean waves to produce electricity. Wave energy converters are intended to be modular and deployed in multi-unit arrays. Today there is worldwide installed about 8 MW of sea testing of different WEC concepts to identify how different WEC design solutions can operate in all wave conditions even during storms and at the same time provide reliable electricity at a reasonable cost complementing offshore wind.
The international co-operation OES under the IEA aims to facilitate sharing and dissemination of the results.

The OES was initially created just after the Danish Wave Energy Program 1998-2001 and Den-mark joined to benefit from the international co-operation and dissemination of results.

Project description

Like previous years the project involves participation in the two annual meetings of the EXCO. The purpose of the ExCo meetings is to exchange information on Ocean Energy Activities developing in the member coun-tries. To identify collaboration activities that help increase the speed of development and use of Ocean Energy in the international energy mix. Since Covid the meetings during 2021 has been replaced by online meetings and dedicated Webinars on activities in specific countries or regions. In this way there was four shorter online EXCO meetings during 2021. It is unsure how soon regular physical meetings can take place again, but the assumption is:
ExCo Meeting 44: Webinar due to Covid
ExCo Meeting 45: not yet determined
… not yet determined
Participation in the creation of new Annexes (a new task on education will be discussed)
Dissemination of Danish wave energy activities and synthesis to OES annual report.
